David Wells is a senior criminal defence solicitor with over 25 years’ experience advising and representing individuals, companies and professionals in serious and complex criminal matters.
He has acted for a broad range of clients, including government officials, foreign diplomats, doctors, nurses, serving police officers, accountants and company directors, and has advised in some of the country’s most high-profile criminal cases.
David represents clients at every stage of the criminal process, from arrest and interview through to trial, appeal and beyond, with particular expertise in pre-charge engagement, reputation management and strategic defence planning.
His experience spans cases involving all major prosecuting and regulatory authorities, including the CPS, HMRC, the Serious Fraud Office and Trading Standards, as well as long-running and complex fraud investigations.
David has represented clients in over 25 murder trials, advised healthcare professionals facing criminal and regulatory allegations, including NHS fraud and gross negligence manslaughter, and regularly acts in matters involving financial crime, professional misconduct and regulatory scrutiny.
He also represents families in inquests and advises individuals seeking to challenge convictions through the appellate courts. He has reviewed hundreds of criminal convictions and has presented numerous cases before the Criminal Cases Review Commission, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
David is recognised as a preferred legal adviser to the Nursing and Midwifery Council and is also one of the legal advisers to Inside Time, the UK’s leading national newspaper for prisoners and prison law.
